Lockibire, an imprint of Maqutt Studio Limited (‘we’, ‘us’), takes your privacy seriously. This policy sets out how we use and protect your personal data when you visit our website. As the data controller, we are responsible for your personal data. Maqutt Studio Limited is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration number ZC189558.

What personal data do we collect?

This website is a simple showcase for our books. We collect only what you choose to send us:

• Contact information: such as your name and email address, if you write to us.
• Correspondence: the content of any messages you send us.

We do not sell anything directly through this website, and we do not collect sensitive data or data relating to children.

How and why do we use it?

In accordance with data protection law, we only use your personal data where we have a legal basis to do so: to respond to and correspond with you (our legitimate interests, or to take steps at your request), and to help ensure the website operates effectively (our legitimate interests).

Sharing & international transfers

We only share personal data with third-party service providers where necessary, and only where we are satisfied they protect your data and act on our instructions. We may share data with legal or regulatory bodies where required by law. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, and we use Google’s Gmail service for email. Both providers may process personal data, such as your IP address or the messages you send us, outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they rely on their certifications under the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, with standard contractual clauses as a fallback.

Security & retention

We take the security of your data seriously and limit access to those who need it for business purposes, subject to confidentiality obligations. We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected.

Your rights

You have the right to: be provided with a copy of your personal data; ask us to correct or delete it; restrict or object to its processing; request its transfer; and withdraw consent where consent is our legal basis. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us; you will not pay a fee, and we will usually respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at any time, though we would appreciate the chance to resolve any concern first.

Cookie Policy

What we store on your device

We do not set any cookies of our own. The only item the site itself stores on your device is your language choice. If you select 繁 (Traditional Chinese), 简 (Simplified Chinese), or EN (English) using the language buttons, your browser’s local storage keeps a small note of that choice, named ‘lk_lang’, so that the site appears in your chosen language on your next visit. It is created only when you make a choice, contains no personal data, is never sent to us, and stays on your device until you clear it.

Security cookies set by our hosting provider

Our website is delivered through Cloudflare, which protects it from malicious and automated traffic. As part of that service, Cloudflare may place a strictly necessary security cookie on your device, such as ‘__cf_bm’, which helps identify automated traffic and expires after 30 minutes, or ‘cf_clearance’, which records that you have passed a security check. These cookies are needed to keep the site secure and are not used for advertising or to follow you across other websites. You can read more in Cloudflare’s cookie policy.

Analytics, functionality & advertising cookies

This is a simple showcase website and we do not currently use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies. Should that change, this policy will be updated and any optional cookies will be set only with your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Managing your preferences

You can clear your language choice, together with any other site data, at any time through your browser settings (usually under ‘cookies and site data’ or ‘clear browsing data’); the site will then appear in English. Most web browsers also let you block or allow cookies and similar technologies automatically; if you block security cookies, you may be asked to complete a security check more often. Our books are sold through Amazon, an independent retailer we have chosen as our sales partner. When you follow a ‘Find it on Amazon’ link you leave our website and your purchase is governed by Amazon’s own terms, pricing, and privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. While we choose our retail partner with care, we are not able to control or accept responsibility for Amazon’s content or practices. If anything ever goes wrong with an order, please tell us as well; we will always do our best to help.

No warranties & liability

The website itself is provided ‘as is’ without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
